Milo Christopher is here!!!

Date: Tuesday September 25th 2007
Time: 11:50 am
Weight: 8 Lbs. 4 Oz.
Length: 21.5 Inches

We feel so blessed and proud to have him home. He really is the most wonderful baby. He has a lot of dark hair and blue eyes (which I think will turn) and beautiful pink skin. He’s so soft and cuddly, I love to just hold him and rub my cheek on his sweet soft little head.

Even though a c-section was something that I didn’t really want to begin with I found that it was a surprisingly emotional experience. At first it felt very cold and surgical with everyone getting things ready and me on the table, but after he came out and I heard his first cry the whole atmosphere changed and it felt warm and loving the way I had always wanted my birth experience to be. I guess in this (as in all things) it’s what you make of it. I wanted an emotional birth experience and I got one because I can look at it that way.

Milo’s doing great. He loves to snuggle and is nursing like a champ. I’m still quite sore and it’s hard to get around but I am doing great despite that. My Mother and Mother-in-law have been especially wonderful since we got home. Mom got sick right after Milo was born so she wasn’t able to get back up here to help us as soon as she wanted so Sheralyn stayed the night with us the first night we were home and took care of the baby while we got to catch up on sleep. I can’t begin to say what s blessing that was. Chris and I were so tired and I was in so much pain that nothing seemed doable but after being able to rest we both felt like we might actually be able to do this parenting thing. Mom came up the next night and did the same thing and, Boy!, we feel so much better. I am so overwhelmed by the blessing of having these two beautiful gracious women in my life. I really don’t know how we would have made it with out them.

There are so many people how went above and beyond for us I can’t even begin to name them all. Just know that we are so grateful for all that you did to make this transition easier for Chris and I. We couldn’t have done it without you. For all of you who brought us food, came to take care of the dogs, prayed for us and just plain came over to hold the baby and show us you love us, Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, Thank you.

Now for Milo’s birth story in pictures (warning there are c-section pics in here):

Here we are leaving the house for the hospital that day

Scheduled C-Section and a Pumkin Hat

After talking with my Dr. this morning and finding out that I have not changed at all in the last three weeks it was decided that We will be welcoming our son via scheduled c-section tomorrow. Given my past cardiac history they felt that continuing to wait and see was not in mine or baby boy's best interest. I am disappointed but not in the least surprised.

On another note I knit Milo a pumpkin hat! I also found a pumpkin onesie and two pairs of pumpkin socks to go with them (I can't decided which I like best) ! I still have to knit the leaves to go on the hat but that won't take long.

Due date has come and gone

I am now officially over due and have no signs that this pregnancy will ever come to an end. We have another Dr.'s appointment tomorrow to see if there has been any progress made but at this point I am not holding out hope (sigh). But, hey going this long has made it possible to have a slide show with a 40 week belly pic in it! (Wow I am huge!)

39 week appt. and...

...NOTHING!!!! That's right, I am STILL 1cm and thick! I am so frustrated I could cry. What makes it worse is everywhere I go everybody starts in about how nobody goes to 40 weeks anymore, like I am soooo unusual. Apparently no one has every seen a 39 week pregnant woman before even at the Dr.s offices. After a while it starts to play with your mind. I am not officially due until Sat. but with everybody saying things like that it makes me feel as if I should have already delivered. UHGG! The doc says not to get discouraged though this is, after all, my first baby so it may take a little while and I could still go into labor before Sat. I certainly hope that I do!

WE HAVE DILATION!!

We went to my 38 week appointment today and found out that I am 1 whole cm. dilated! It still could be a while before I really go into labor but at least there is measurable progress. YAY! I can see a far off light at the end of the tunnel (or better yet he can!)

37 Week Belly Pic

I think this just about sums it up.
