Update on Us

On Wednesday night my High-Risk OB Dr. (yes, I have two OBs) called Chris’s cell phone after trying to get a hold of me for a couple of hours and said that there was a problem with the labs that I had done earlier that day. Apparently my platelet count was extremely low and this can be a sign of severe pre-eclampsia. He said that I needed to go immediately to the hospital and get my lab work redone and if it was still low they would start looking at why, and if it was pre-eclampsia they would have to deliver our son either that night or the next day. Needless to say I started bawling and cried all the way to the hospital and prayed that they would not have to delver my son 2 months early. So after several hours of waiting on lab work, and trying to hold it together, it came back normal!!!! I was so relived I could hardly stand it. They chose to keep me in the hospital over night and repeat the test in the morning. When those labs came back my platelet count had dropped again but was still low normal so they let me and baby boy go home! They will still be doing tests every week until I deliver and watching things but, Praise God, the baby can bake longer!!

Thanks so much to all of the people who were praying for us, you will never know how much that means to me. God truly answers prayer!

Weekly Non-Stress Tests

I went for my 1st non-stress test today. They put you in a room and hook up some monitoring equipment to your belly so they can listen to the baby’s heart rate and see his movements and see if your having any contractions. They also give you this little clicker thing to click every time you feel movement. He wasn’t moving at all when I first lay down but he shortly started hiccupping (they were big hiccups too, I could see my belly shake every time he hiccupped), so with every hiccup I faithfully clicked my little clicker. After a few minutes of very regular clicks the nurse (who can see his activity on the monitor she has up front came in and said I didn’t need to click it every time he hiccupped just when he kicked or wiggled or whatever. It took him about 15 -20 minutes to finally calm down and stop hiccupping so that I could tell if the movement I was feeling was movement or hiccup. On the whole I was in the office for about an hour and then I had to go get blood work, which hurt and I felt very sorry for myself (whimper). I will have to repeat this fun every week until I deliver!

A Little Scare & 30 Week Belly Changes

On Monday I was monitored at labor and delivery because I had a higher than normal blood pressure and heart rate. Be assured I am not in pre term labor and the baby is fine but given my past cardiac history my OB thought it was a good idea to have it checked out. So I left the hospital on Monday after being monitored for a couple of hours and had a fine blood pressure but still had an elevated heart rate. Then yesterday at my sonogram appointment my BP was high again so they asked me to chart it over the next week and watch to see what it would do. So this morning I was still having an elevated heart rate and when I took my BP it was high enough to warrant a call. The Dr. was concerned enough that he thought I should be given steroid shots to help the babies lungs mature faster just in case they have to take him early. After they told me that I had a very hard time keeping it together. This is not at all how I saw my pregnancy going. I always thought that I would carry my baby to term, go into labor spontaneously, and after a short non-medicated labor I would push my son into the world. I am hopeful that this can still happen but it’s looking less and less likely. My hip hurts a lot from the steroid shot, they’re no fun at all and I have to have another one tomorrow (whimper).

On a lighter note; Wow, My bump is getting quite large now! I guess that happens when you are carrying an elephant child! Chris took my 30 weeks bump pictures last night and when I looked at the one of my whole body the belly was so big it made it look like I had chicken legs for the first time in my life!

Here is a slide show of the progress so far!

30 weeks!

We had our 30 week 3-D sonogram today and our baby boy was very cute and cooperative, he kept his hands away from his face the whole time! His little foot was blocking his boy parts though so we only got to see that he definitely has a scrotum. He measured at 4lbs and 3oz, the norm for this age is not quite 3 lbs, and the doctor said that this means if he continues to grow at this rate, by my due date, I will have a 9 lbs baby! Because he’s so large and I’m so small I will be having another sonogram at 36 weeks to better judge how big he is. We still don’t have an answer to whether or not I will have to have a c-section, and we probably won’t know until it gets very close to my delivery, which is fine with me even though it is a little frustrating. I get different opinions from all the doctors involved in our care. So we’ll see. Hope you enjoy the pics of our precious son!

Nursery Frustration, More Bedding Debacles

Getting baby bedding has been a nightmare. After finally deciding on bedding that I didn’t have to have made and was affordable, JcPenny won’t ship that darn bedding!! I have had three different ship dates and I still don’t know when I will get it. They just keep pushing it back. I knew when I ordered it in May that it was not going to be available until July 1st and that was fine because I didn’t care if I didn’t have my nursery finished until August. So I thought that I could get the bedding in at the beginning of July and get the correct paint colors off of it and have it all done by the beginning of August…but nooooo! Instead it won’t even ship until nearly the end of July so I can’t do anything on the room until it gets here. I know that you don’t need to have the baby’s room done when he gets here but I really didn’t want to have to work on it with a newborn. And I wanted to work on it at a leisurely pace because I get tired more easily these days. Why has it been so hard to get bedding in!?! I am so frustrated I want to cry. I feel like we are so not prepared and it will be a tiring rush to get everything ready right at the end I so did not plan for it to be that way. My plan was to have everything being able to be done at a slow pace so I could enjoy it and not be worn out. I hate it when my plans get derailed. I guess now that I am going to have a baby I should get used to it though. Hopefully I will get the bedding soon so that I can get the room done so I can post pictures.

Nikki's baby Shower

We went to the baby shower that Nikki and Brad's church through for them on Saturday and it was really nice. She got all kinds of cute clothes and other things she needed. It's harder than you would think to get a gift for a 7th baby, you're shopping thinking what could they need at this point, surely the previous six have gotten it covered. I guess that is why all the clothes, you can always use more clothes.

Here are a few pics from Paint Rock:
