Milo Christopher is here!!!

Date: Tuesday September 25th 2007
Time: 11:50 am
Weight: 8 Lbs. 4 Oz.
Length: 21.5 Inches

We feel so blessed and proud to have him home. He really is the most wonderful baby. He has a lot of dark hair and blue eyes (which I think will turn) and beautiful pink skin. He’s so soft and cuddly, I love to just hold him and rub my cheek on his sweet soft little head.

Even though a c-section was something that I didn’t really want to begin with I found that it was a surprisingly emotional experience. At first it felt very cold and surgical with everyone getting things ready and me on the table, but after he came out and I heard his first cry the whole atmosphere changed and it felt warm and loving the way I had always wanted my birth experience to be. I guess in this (as in all things) it’s what you make of it. I wanted an emotional birth experience and I got one because I can look at it that way.

Milo’s doing great. He loves to snuggle and is nursing like a champ. I’m still quite sore and it’s hard to get around but I am doing great despite that. My Mother and Mother-in-law have been especially wonderful since we got home. Mom got sick right after Milo was born so she wasn’t able to get back up here to help us as soon as she wanted so Sheralyn stayed the night with us the first night we were home and took care of the baby while we got to catch up on sleep. I can’t begin to say what s blessing that was. Chris and I were so tired and I was in so much pain that nothing seemed doable but after being able to rest we both felt like we might actually be able to do this parenting thing. Mom came up the next night and did the same thing and, Boy!, we feel so much better. I am so overwhelmed by the blessing of having these two beautiful gracious women in my life. I really don’t know how we would have made it with out them.

There are so many people how went above and beyond for us I can’t even begin to name them all. Just know that we are so grateful for all that you did to make this transition easier for Chris and I. We couldn’t have done it without you. For all of you who brought us food, came to take care of the dogs, prayed for us and just plain came over to hold the baby and show us you love us, Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, Thank you.

Now for Milo’s birth story in pictures (warning there are c-section pics in here):

Here we are leaving the house for the hospital that day

Congrats! What a beautiful baby!

I am a friend of Vanessa & Dan's, and I linked here through Vanessa's new blog. The nurse holding Milo in one of your pictures is my son Michael's best friend's mom. What a small world.

Pretty cute! Garrett had a TON of strawberry blond hair...so much that he looked like he had an afro but it was really light blondish red!!! We're still waiting on our little dark haired baby! You give me hope! LOL! But after Jackie's 8 blonds and our 7 it's not looking too promising. She did finally have a brown eyed baby though in Channing so now we've finally each got just one dark eyed one....though I have 2 green eyed boys in our mix....and except for her brown eyed boy the rest are all blues for her!!!! Go figure! She's got green eyes and Curtis has brown!I love looking at new babies and seeing just what 2 people's DNA together can make! LOL! He's pretty sweet!
