So Sleepy
One of my weird personal quirks is that I use my hair dryer for a heater. It all started with the fact that my parents kept it VERY cold in our house and I was always freezing so when I would be in my room reading I would turn on the hair dryer to warm my feet while I read and now I am positively addicted to my hair dryer. It gotten to the point where I can’t read with out turning it on and I always read a little before I go to sleep so I always turn my hair dryer on before I go to sleep.
Milo has been sleeping in our room since we brought him home so he has been hearing my hair dryer running at night since the day we brought him home. A few nights ago he was really fussy and just would go to sleep even though he was exhausted (this is a pretty typical occurrence, that boy hates to fall asleep). We tried everything we could think of to help he go to sleep but nothing was working. So I took the monitor into the computer room and left Chris to deal with it. All of the sudden the monitor get staticy sounding and I look on the screen and Milo is sound asleep. Chris had turned on my hair dryer and it totally calmed him down. Chris and I both laughed so hard. I think it will be so funny if he ends up having the same personal quirk as his momma. I mean let’s face it it’s not really normal to be addicted to you hair dryer.

2 month update
Milo had his two month check up today and everything went well. He weighs in at 11.2 lbs. and measures in at 23.5 inches. It’s looking like he is going to be long and thin just like his daddy! The Dr. did put him on Zantac because she thought the reason that he can’t sleep on his back (or any other way) is because he may be having acid reflux. When he lies on his back it comes up into his throat and hurts him so we’re going to try it for a week and see how it goes. He also got the first of his shots at this appointment. I had to hold his arms down and it nearly broke my heart. I was proud of myself though because I didn’t actually cry. As far as milestones are concerned he is hitting all of them right on or ahead of schedule. He can do little pushups, hold his head steady and at a 45 degree angle and bear weight on his legs. My favorite Milestone though is that he is imitating other people’s facial expressions and cooing. His favorite place to interact with us is on the changing table. I think it’s just the right height for him to be able to really see us well. I must admit it takes longer than it should to change his diaper because I love to listen to him talk to me and see him smile.

Goodbye Gracie
We put Gracie down today. For those of you who don't know Gracie is our Great Dane who had epilepsy. She had been on a down hill slide for a while now. It was so hard to leave her at the vet knowing that I would never see her again. Doing the responsible adult thing is terrible sometimes. Gracie was a great dog, so sweet and friendly. She epitomized the phrase "gentle giant" that's used to describe Great Danes. This has been especially hard on Chris because she was his dog. He had always wanted a Great Dane so she was kind of the fulfillment of a dream for him. She will be missed so much.
This is my Favorite pic of Gracie. I think it really captures her personality
Playing dress up
Laying in the hall because she knew that she wasn't allowed in the room
Sitting on the couch
Puppy Face
At the park
Chasing Bailey
I liked to kiss her on the nose. She got so used to it that she would walk right up to anybody that came to our house and stick her nose in their face for a nose kiss.

Please Pray for Andrew W.
I just got a call from a friend of mine, Melissa, and she said that her 1 month old son Andrew is having to be admitted to the hospital today. His jaundice, which should have cleared up by now, has gotten worse and he has only gained 3 oz since his birth. At this point they don't know what is going on but his pediatrician was not comfortable waiting to admit him until after the Thanksgiving holiday. So they are taking him in this afternoon and he'll stay there a few days with a IV for food and under the lights for the jaundice. If you feel led to please pray that this little guy has a fast and full recovery and that his parents will have some peace.
Today was My Brother's Birthday
Ben would have been 27 today. I still miss him so much and he has been gone for over four years now. I wish he could have been at my wedding and had one of his own. I wish he could see my son. He was so funny, I love to sit and laugh with him. I miss laughing with him. I don't think that I'll ever really get over him not being here.
Here are a few of my favorite Ben pics. There are ofcourse so many more but these are the ones that I have. Most of the pic of Ben are at my parents' house. I didn't really get into digital photography until after Ben died so most of these were scanned in.
Ben with his 21st birthday cake. My mother told him to order it himself and it says "Ben is Cool" on it.
Ben asleep on the couch with his bull dog puppies Lumpy and Bumpy. Those dogs were the funniest thing ever. We laughed at them alot.
The day we got Lumpy and Bumpy
Proud owner of a new home that had yet to be built
Pretending to read the plans
Ben and me at Brad and Nikki's wedding
I think he was about a year old in this one
Musician in the making
This one was taken Christmas 2001
This is from our trip to New York. We went there mainly so Ben could see a taping of The Daily Show but he forgot to confirm the tickets so we ended up just bumming
around for three days and then came home
Here he is at the Toy's R Us in Time Square

Family Picture Time!
We went and had family pics with Chris' family today. It was an ordeal but then again it's hard to get that many people together and it not be an ordeal. Here are a few from that session.

Adjusting My Camera and the First Smile pic
I finally figured out how to manually adjust the shutter speed and aperture on my camera. I lost the English version of the manual that came with my camera and was only left with the Spanish version (I could so kick myself for not taking Spanish in high school) so it finally dawned on me to look on the Internet to find it out (I know was a little slow on the uptake). Here are a few pics that I took of Milo while finally being able to manipulate the image.
Also Here is Milo's first smile picture. It's not the first time he's smiled but the first time getting it on camera. It makes me heart melt when he looks and me a grins that great big grin. It's one of the most emotionally rewarding things that has ever happened to me. I love my son so much!
