The Games We play

I love the age Milo is at (Chris says I say that with every stage). I love all the games we play with him and all the new things he is learning. "Peak-a-boo" is, of course, a great favorite as is "Got your toes (or nose or finger or tummy or anything else we want to "get")". He has started waving hi and bye bye recently so that has become a favorite game too. We also play a game where he'll hold something out to me and I'll take and say in a high squeaky voice "Can Mamma have that? Thank you! (in an even higher squeakier voice)" then say "Do you want it back?" to which he giggles and reaches out and takes it.

I looked over and he was playing with the burp cloth I had just used to clean spit up. EWWWWW...
(yes, my strange baby likes to play with his nasal aspirator)

"What Mamma? All babies play with their spit up rags, they told me so."

I gave him a penguin to play with from Daddy's penguin collection instead (shhh, don't tell Chris)

Homemade Baby Food

My first attempt at homemade baby food.

We went shopping yestarday and they had some apricots that smelled heavenly so I decided to make them for Milo. All I did was dunk them in boiling water for a minute or two and then straight into ice water to removed the skin and then pureed the meat. It was pretty easy. After I got done I put them into some Gerber baby food containers that I had washed and saved for just such a purpose. As it turned out the apricots were a little sour so Milo didn't like them. All I could think to do was add sugar to sweeten them up a bit. After I did that he ate them a lot better. I know he cant have honey yet but I wonder if there is something else I can sweeten tings with?

Milo and Tux, Reunited

We left Tux over at Nanny and Papa's house when we picked Milo up on Monday after we got back from vacation and weren't able to go get him, so Milo was Tuxless for a few days. We finally got him back last night and you should have seen Milo's joyous reaction. I swear that stuffed penguin got a more enthusiastic welcome than Mamma did after I had been gone for a week. I definitely can't deny that Tux holds a very dear place in my son's heart.

First Swim (kind of)

Milo had his first swim (kind of) on Memorial day . We went over to his cousins house to play in their wadding pool. At the very first he wasn't sure what to think of it and then his cousin Brooke decided the pool was a very scary thing so he started bawling too. I think it might have been to cold for him becuase he's gotten to where he loves to splash around in the bath tub but the pool was a no go. I took him out and wrapped in up in a towel which calmed him down and after Brooke got out and calmed down I tried again to see if he was upset just because she was. As soon and his feet broke the surface of the water he lost it again. I am not sure this bodes well for swim lessons this summer.

Rockin' the swim trunks

Looking back at Daddy for a little reassurance

"Hi Mamma"

"I am not sure about this"

"Nope, I'm definitely not sure about this"

We tried to get Brooke and Milo to play but neither one was having it

I couldn't stand it any more so I got him out for a little TLC

Sweety in a sunhat

Ethan, however, had a blast

Uncle Chris also had a blast

They would play a game where Ethan would splash Chris and then wait, giggling, for Chris to splash him back. (you can click on this to see it bigger, the expressions on their faces are priceless!)

Finger Foods

Milo's Sweet Potato Puffs

I have been trying to get Milo to eat finger foods for the last month but every time I tried he would make the most awful face and gag so I decided to give it a rest for a little while and try again later. Today during his lunch I decided to try it again and lo and behold, he got then down with out major drama. I broke the Gerber puffs in half and let him gum on those then chased it down with a bite of his cereal mixture. He didn't actually get one into his own mouth but it wasn't for lack of trying. He would grab one in his fist and then try to shove the whole fist in his mouth. He hasn't quite gotten the pincher grasp down yet so that makes it difficult to feed himself right now. At this point I am just trying to get him used to the feel of more solid foods so hopefully when he has masted the pincher grasp self-feeding will go smoother.

Camp Papa

Chris and I spent the last week on vacation and going to his cousins wedding. We had a blast but we MISSED Baby Boy who stayed with his Nanny and Papa while we were away. They were so sweet and sent us pics and MP3's of Milo talking while we were there. Milo had a ton of fun at "Camp Papa". He played with his cousins, took soaks in the hot tub (baths in the sink), and made his very first piece of art (after which he immediately got put in the hot tub). Papa even put together a video of all the fun at "Camp Papa". It was so cute and all the pics and stuff made it easier to be away from him. I'm hoping to be able to get it on the blog soon but I am not quite sure how. I missed him the whole time but was able to relax and enjoy my "time off" until the last day or two. After that I just hit a wall and needed to get home to my baby. James and Jessica's wedding was beautiful and we had a good time but I am not in any hurry to leave my sweet baby again anytime soon.

Check out My Stash

I have been pumping for a few months after Milo gets his breakfast and right before I go to bed and check out my stash of frozen breast milk! I have no idea how many ounces it is but it's got to be several hundred at least. That represents a lot of time and effort pumping (which I hate). Not bad for a girl with milk supply problems! I have worked so hard getting my supply up and keeping it there. I just wanted to give myself a little pat on the back and show off my hard work!

Accept for the half a bag of ice this whole freezer drawer is frozen breast milk.

New Play Toy

In an effort to start introducing Milo to the idea of feeding himself I am letting him play with his spoon after we get done eating. At first he was hesitant to take it but after a few days of this he snatches it away from me as soon as I hold it up for him to get. It will keep his attention for quite a while which is nice becuase it allows me to do the dishes!

Love Thursday

I love Milo's little baby toes. They are so sweet I just want to nibble on them (which makes him laugh)! When he sits they "V" out and the toes curl in kind of making it look like a heart!

Apple of Mommy's Eye

Here are a few more we took at my parents house. He was so tired when I took these he kept rubbing his eyes and would hardly look at me.

Prune Cereal...Yummy

I took some pics of Milo eating his prune cereal the other day that made me laugh. He's teething so he is just pouring out drool. It make for really messy eating but funny pics!

Flower Pics

My mother has a beautiful flower garden in front of her house. So while we were there I took some pics of the gorgeous flowers! See as how I only seem to be able to grow weeds it was my only opportunity to photograph flower so close to home without trespassing.

Belated Mothers's Day

Happy belated Mother's Day to all the mommy's in my life. I have learned so much from each of you. The combination of wisdom and experience I have received from each of you has helped make me a better mother. Thank you for all that you do for your families and all the love you have shown. You will be so blessed!

Baby Boy and I spent Mother's Day with my own mother who unfortunately got sick as soon as we got there. Even though she couldn't eat a bite of it my dad made us steaks and boy, were they tasty!

Here is me on Mother's day last year. I was 21 weeks pregnant and felt so huge. Little did I know what HUGE really meant!

Here is the baby who was in that bump! I can't believe how fast time is flying by. It doesn't seem like Milo should already be 7 months old.
