He said it! He finally said it!!! Milo has said a few real words now like uh-oh, Callie, Dada, Nana (translation nanny), Baba (translation Bailey), Dut (which we take to mean duck) but he had yet to say a real Mama. That all changed last night. He had bonked his his head on the coffee table and Chris picked him up trying to comfort him and kept wailing "Mama. Mama." My heart just melted and I, of course, immediately snatched him from Dada and comforted my baby. Later when he got tired and wanted to go to bed he crawled over to me crying again and wailing "Mama. Mama." I wish he would say it when he's happy but at this point I'll take what I can get. At least I know that my baby wants only me when he's tired, hurt or hungry and that makes me feel good. When he wants to play though he still calls for Dada. I suppose the old adage is true Daddy means play and Mommy means business.

Milo M. and the Case of the Missing Keys
I have always been a little scatterbrained when it comes wear I left my keys. You can chalk it up to being disorganized. But lately it has gone to a ridiculous level. As we were leaving the other day I had to go on a frantic hunt for my keys. While this is not an unusual occurrence for me I swore that this time I had left them on the end on the couch but they no where to be found. After a frantic hunt to find my keys I found them across the living room next to the exersaucer (my first clue). Baffled I got them and we left.
This morning as I was folding towels in the laundry room Milo crawls in, keys in hand and leaves them like a little present in front of the washer for me to step on as I backed up (It was a good thing too becuase I probably wouldn't have found them otherwise). Apparently my keys fell off the end of the couch were I usually threw them and Milo grabbed them to play with and crawled away. Mr. Nobody, who moves our things to unexpected places, now has a name and it is Milo.

Tristen
I got to take pics of my nephew Tristen while he was here visiting his grandparents this summer. He was quite the ham as you will see. He brought lots of fun and energy to our time together and really made it his own.

Mohawk Woes
What little hair Milo has is getting very long. I can no longer get his Mohawk to stand up straight. The poor thing kind of droops off to the side. He also has little wisps of hair right above his ears that make him look, from the front, like he has a mullet but he doesn't have much else. Chris and I just can't bring ourselves to cut what he has even though it's getting a bit unruly. One of us will get fed up with his untidy appearance and the other will get sad about getting it cut and then we will flip flop and just go back and forth like that. I can't believe how emotional it is just to think about getting his hair cut. What a weird thing to get sentimental about. I know he's going to have lots of hair cuts in his life, but the first one is like saying he's finally a big boy and not my little baby any more.

Don't Fence Me In
We got a baby gate to help keep Milo confined to the study and hall while I am on the computer and as a protection against him getting into the bathroom while we are in the living room. Much to the chagrin of Bailey it quickly became a new toy and something to throw Bailey balls over. Poor Bailey, Milo will throw his ball over the gate and then he won't be able to get it and will lay at the gate obsessing.

1st Big Boo Boo
Milo go this first big knot on the head today. He was getting toys off his toy shelf and slipped and fell, hitting his temple on the edge of the shelf. He is fine it scared him more than hurt him and after a paci and a little Mamma cuddle he was much better. It freaked me out though. I can't stand to see my baby hurt and crying. I wasn't ready to let him go when he got over it and wanted to get down and play.

That's Some Major Nap Hair
Milo woke up from his nap this afternoon with his mohawk in disarray. Chris went in to get him and started laughing and calling me in there to check it out. I just had to grab my camera and document that for posterity. If bed head is the sign of a good nap, he had a great one.

All in an Evenings Play
Milo has a new game he loves to play. He crawls away and we chase after him going "I'm going to get you!" The further we let him crawl before we pick him up and tickle him the more he squeals and laughs. It's the cutest thing ever.
Daddy chasing Milo

He also loves to pull up on the bath tub and squeal. I guess it's just the perfect pulling up height and it echoes in there a little so he gets to hear his own voice back. It freaks me out a little that he likes to play by the bathtub so mu We are working hard to remember to keep the bathroom door closed so he can't get in there by himself.

Pooh Bear has become a great friend. He loves to gum Pooh's snout.

He also love any little hide-a-hole he can find. He will crawl under "bridges" we make with our legs or in between gaps in the furniture, any little tight niche will do.

He also loves to pull up on the back of the sofa and talk to us. For some reason that makes him laugh so hard.

He has started to let go too and can balance for just a few seconds before he falls on his butt. It won't be long before he's walking. I am not sure I am ready for that.
