Obligatory Picture with Santa

I wasn’t allowed to believe in Santa when I was a kid so in the interest of giving Milo experiences I never had we took him to see Santa at the mall and WOW, was that an experience. When we first got there Santa was gone so we had to wait in a big line for about 20 min until Santa decided to show up Which wouldn’t have been so bad expect Chris was in a bad mood and the most annoying couple in the world was standing behind us. They both talked so loud my ears are still ringing, they kept invading our personal space and the woman kept hissing and clicking at Milo. I am so glad he didn’t smile at her because it would have just encouraged her (not that she needed a lot of encouragement.) Their kid also kept bumping into me so I moved to the other side of Chris to get away from him and he proceeded to move there too and keep bumping into me. So we are inching along the line and I’m trying to ignore them and Chris is getting more and more taciturn and this other kid from further back in the line comes up to the side of the stroller and tries to take one of Milo’s toys off of the car seat. Chris pushed the stroller forward enough to discourage the kid and he goes back to where he came from. As we are getting to the front of the line I got Milo out of his car seat and the lady behind us gets right up over my shoulder and starts to hiss at him some more. I mean she is seriously an inch from my ear. I am moved around putting my back between her and Milo because I was afraid she was going to touch him and it’s finally our turn to put Milo on Santa’s lap. We can’t get him to look at the camera but other than that he does ok. After all of that we end up paying $20 for a terrible quality picture of Milo not looking at the camera and Santa looking like he wants to kill somebody. What an experience!

Mommy: The Cow

Milo has basically only has one night time feeding at this point (no sleeping through the night did NOT last) but he'll wake up a few times at night while he’s getting hungry but will still sleep, so we shove his paci in his mouth as many time as we can get away with it until he has had enough and will not longer stave off hunger with the paci. Last night he finally got to that point at 3:00am so Chris went and got him to bring to me to nurse and on the way to me he was staring me down and licking his chops. I mean actually licking his chops . It good to know where I rank in my baby's life! I thought that was too funny not to share.

Where's how you know that your baby MIGHT be getting tired:

Snow Baby

We woke up to Milo's first lite dusting of snow today. It, of course, melted off quickly like it always does but we were able to get this pic before it did. It was really cold windy and bright outside so as you can tell Milo was NOT happy.

Chris giving Milo tummy time. As you can see he wasn't happy about it either.

Milo has also been drooling a lot recently. I really hope he not cutting teeth, that might end nursing real quick.

He's also starting to sit better while propped up. He doesn't seem to wobble side to side as much.

Here are a few pf my current favorite pics

He is smiling and laughing so much now! It's such a joy to watch him. Is melts my heart to see him smile at me.

"Pooh on His Hands"

Last night while I was cleaning the kitchen Chris got Baby Boy ready for bed. As I am scrubbing pots and pans Chris comes just to where I can't see him and says "Honey, he got Pooh on his hands." I said in an incredulous tone "Poo on his hands!" Thinking to myself "eww, I hope he washed it off." And as he came around the corner so I could see Milo this is what he was wearing:

My husband is so silly :)

Here are a couple of bath pics

You can almost read his mind: "Momma! I'm COLD"

And after the warm water was sprayed on him he's much better

We put Milo in the bassinet to play so we could get dressed for church last Sunday and we still aren't quite sure how he did it but he got his whole arm out of the top of his PJs. My baby is so funny. We love to just sit and be amused by him!

!!!! He Slept Through the Night !!!!

Hallelujah! He slept through the night last night! Oh, sweet peace! Oh, restful sleep! Thank God! He slept through the night! I have been groggily waiting for this day for 11 weeks. I only hope that's not a one time occurrence but the beginning of a trend.

Passing on the Strangeness

So Sleepy

One of my weird personal quirks is that I use my hair dryer for a heater. It all started with the fact that my parents kept it VERY cold in our house and I was always freezing so when I would be in my room reading I would turn on the hair dryer to warm my feet while I read and now I am positively addicted to my hair dryer. It gotten to the point where I can’t read with out turning it on and I always read a little before I go to sleep so I always turn my hair dryer on before I go to sleep.

Milo has been sleeping in our room since we brought him home so he has been hearing my hair dryer running at night since the day we brought him home. A few nights ago he was really fussy and just would go to sleep even though he was exhausted (this is a pretty typical occurrence, that boy hates to fall asleep). We tried everything we could think of to help he go to sleep but nothing was working. So I took the monitor into the computer room and left Chris to deal with it. All of the sudden the monitor get staticy sounding and I look on the screen and Milo is sound asleep. Chris had turned on my hair dryer and it totally calmed him down. Chris and I both laughed so hard. I think it will be so funny if he ends up having the same personal quirk as his momma. I mean let’s face it it’s not really normal to be addicted to you hair dryer.

2 month update

Milo had his two month check up today and everything went well. He weighs in at 11.2 lbs. and measures in at 23.5 inches. It’s looking like he is going to be long and thin just like his daddy! The Dr. did put him on Zantac because she thought the reason that he can’t sleep on his back (or any other way) is because he may be having acid reflux. When he lies on his back it comes up into his throat and hurts him so we’re going to try it for a week and see how it goes. He also got the first of his shots at this appointment. I had to hold his arms down and it nearly broke my heart. I was proud of myself though because I didn’t actually cry. As far as milestones are concerned he is hitting all of them right on or ahead of schedule. He can do little pushups, hold his head steady and at a 45 degree angle and bear weight on his legs. My favorite Milestone though is that he is imitating other people’s facial expressions and cooing. His favorite place to interact with us is on the changing table. I think it’s just the right height for him to be able to really see us well. I must admit it takes longer than it should to change his diaper because I love to listen to him talk to me and see him smile.

Goodbye Gracie

We put Gracie down today. For those of you who don't know Gracie is our Great Dane who had epilepsy. She had been on a down hill slide for a while now. It was so hard to leave her at the vet knowing that I would never see her again. Doing the responsible adult thing is terrible sometimes. Gracie was a great dog, so sweet and friendly. She epitomized the phrase "gentle giant" that's used to describe Great Danes. This has been especially hard on Chris because she was his dog. He had always wanted a Great Dane so she was kind of the fulfillment of a dream for him. She will be missed so much.

This is my Favorite pic of Gracie. I think it really captures her personality

Playing dress up

Laying in the hall because she knew that she wasn't allowed in the room

Sitting on the couch

Puppy Face

At the park

Chasing Bailey

I liked to kiss her on the nose. She got so used to it that she would walk right up to anybody that came to our house and stick her nose in their face for a nose kiss.

Please Pray for Andrew W.

I just got a call from a friend of mine, Melissa, and she said that her 1 month old son Andrew is having to be admitted to the hospital today. His jaundice, which should have cleared up by now, has gotten worse and he has only gained 3 oz since his birth. At this point they don't know what is going on but his pediatrician was not comfortable waiting to admit him until after the Thanksgiving holiday. So they are taking him in this afternoon and he'll stay there a few days with a IV for food and under the lights for the jaundice. If you feel led to please pray that this little guy has a fast and full recovery and that his parents will have some peace.

Today was My Brother's Birthday

Ben would have been 27 today. I still miss him so much and he has been gone for over four years now. I wish he could have been at my wedding and had one of his own. I wish he could see my son. He was so funny, I love to sit and laugh with him. I miss laughing with him. I don't think that I'll ever really get over him not being here.

Here are a few of my favorite Ben pics. There are ofcourse so many more but these are the ones that I have. Most of the pic of Ben are at my parents' house. I didn't really get into digital photography until after Ben died so most of these were scanned in.

Ben with his 21st birthday cake. My mother told him to order it himself and it says "Ben is Cool" on it.

Ben asleep on the couch with his bull dog puppies Lumpy and Bumpy. Those dogs were the funniest thing ever. We laughed at them alot.
