It was really amazing outside a few days ago so we went out in the new cleaned up back yard to play in the shade. Outdoors on a nice day is definitely the best place to do ones tummy time! Bailey loved having us out there and Milo loved watching me throw his ball for him. Milo also loved watching our baby pear tree blow in the breeze. That made him laugh really hard and then just lay there and stare at it in turns.
The pear tree was very amusing

Bailey had a ball rolling around on the ground with the ball in his mouth
He is getting so good at reaching for the things he wants!
The breeze got up and blew the blanket in his face
Then it ended up wrapping him completely

Blogger Idiosyncrasies
I swear I learn more and more about blogger every time I post. I just posted a post I had been working on a few days ago and never got around to posting. When I went to look at it on the blog I couldn't find it even though it said it had posted. eventually I found it a few posts down. Apparently if you start a draft and post it later it will post in the order it is on the posts list. I always everything always posted in the order you publish it it but I guess not.
Anyway...the post is called Outdoor Play Time and it has some cute pics!
Thanks Shannah! I figured out how to move it!

Doggie Mohawk
Bailey hadn't been shaved in months and he was a majorly fuzzy pup so I took him to the groomer to day and had them give him a Mohawk to match Milo. When the groomer brought him out he was so stinking cute all prancing around like he knew he was super bad!
This is one tough Cocker Spaniel now all he needs is a black collar with spikes on it.

Advancements in Mobility
Milo is becoming even more mobile! Not only can he roll onto his tummy at will and do these amazing full body push ups but he has started turning around in circles and pushing himself backwards. Granted, it's slow going but hey, progress is progress no matter how slow. It won't be long before I can't keep up with him.
Sweet baby smile!
I love it when he sticks out his tongue like this (which he's doing a lot these days).
"Oh look, there is a paci!"
"Mom, this paci is good."

Milk Matters
I got concerned that Milo was not getting enough milk again despite my best efforts so we went to see the lactation specialist again today. We weighed him before and after his feeding to see how much he was getting. The good new is that he is getting more than I thought the bad new is that it's still not enough. He should be gained .5 to 1oz a day and he isn't making that goal. I have only been weighing him every now and again to see that he is indeed making progress but now I think I am going to be taking him to the weekly weigh-in's at the hospital to see how much he is actually gaining per week. The problem with getting more milk into him is that he won't take a bottle from me. He won't even take a bottle if I am in the room. Chris has actually been feeding him and it was going smoothly until I just walked into the room and Milo rejected the bottle and started crying. That kid wants boob and nothing else will do. I am not really sure where to go at this point. I am frustrated and need to do something but I am not sure what. I am thinking of trying some herbal supplements in addition to the medication I am taking. They didn't work all that well by themselves but maybe in combination it will be enough to push out that little more he is needing. Nursing is such hard work but I am still determined we WILL make it to a year.

Separation Anxiety
We experienced a whole new level of separation anxiety today. While we were shopping in Target I leaned down to get something off the shelves and Milo freaked out. He would just start screaming until I came back into his view. The first time it happened I thought it was a fluke but it kept on happening the entire time we were in the store. Then, when we got out to the car, I put him in the back seat he lost it yet again and cried the whole way home until I got him out again and he could see me.
Mixed Veggie Poo
Yes, you read that right. I am once again, going to talk about poo. When your a mommy to a 6 month old you life revolves around a very few things; naps, sleep deprivation, solid foods, teething, and yes, poo. I knew that when we started on solids the relatively sweet breast milk only diapers were a thing of the past. But the knowledge didn't prepare me for the reality. Chris and I had begun to do what only parents of babies can see themselves doing, we mentally rated which baby food was the worst on it's way out. Of all the ones we have tried so far, rice cereal, peas, squash, and green beans; green beans were rated the most awful to deal with. That was before today.
Yesterday we tired carrots. Baby Boy loved them, he wolfed down the whole container and was still wanting more so I fed him an old fav, peas. He ate about 2/3 of that container and did a whole nursing session besides so he was quite stuffed when he went to bed.
This morning, after his usual morning nursing session he was really fussy so I thought he might be hungry still. I heated up some pumped breastmilk and started to give it to him when all of the sudden the reason for the fussiness came clear. It was only a little and I knew he probably wasn't done but, OH MY GOD, did that stink! So, against all that I have learned about my baby over the past 6 months, I went ahead and started to change his diaper. That was a mistake. I got the diaper off, was holding his legs in the air, wiping his butt when Poosplosion '08 happened. Thankfully his red faced straining was a cue and I was able to move out of the way in time but it was still disgusting to behold. It was like horribly smelly lava.
I have now come to the conclusion that mixed veggie poo far out ranks green bean poo on the stink 'o meter.

Milo's First Easter
Milo had his first Easter today! We didn't hunt eggs or anything becuase, as Chris pointed out, we would be the ones to hide them and then find them. We'll save that for next year when Baby Boy can hunt his own eggs and I can snap pics. We did go to Church and our friend Shannah came with us. The service was all about the Passover which I found it very interesting becuase, being a gentile, I knew next to nothing about Passover. The symbolism is amazing. Then we came home and had Chili and Coke Cake that I made. I know, not the traditional Easter feast but still very good. Shannah even stayed for lunch even though she is a vegetarian (she had veggie stuff instead) Chris got a nap this afternoon while baby boy an I went to check out the new World Market that just opened up. It's so cool! I could spend Chris' whole pay check in there (don't worry Honey, I won't). I spent most of the time in the gourmet foods area and came home with some great stuff. I tried lavender chocolates for the first time and WOW where they good (very exotic to my palette)! All in all it was a very good day.
Baby Boy in his Easter outfit. Isn't he cute!

We kept trying to get him to look at us and he kept laughing at the dog who was over to the side.

Stylin' Little Dude
Look at my stlyin' little man! We found this shirt the other day at Baby Gap and I thought he was so cute I couldn't help sharing. There is of course drool all down the front but it's still cute none the less. I think he looks like a miniature version of his daddy in this outfit.
Bailey was in the room so there is, of course, a nasty tennis ball in the pic.

Big Duck
Milo Nanny and Papa got Milo an "I hope you get to feeling better soon" gift. The thing is bigger than he is but he loves it. It's a great tummy time toy for him. And when we "tackle" him with it he thinks it's the funniest thing in the world. It was a great thing to have when we were trying to keep him up just a little longer last night.
You can kind of see his two new teeth in this one!

Milo is Sick Again
The day before yesterday Milo had been exceedingly whinny. He would just lay there and whimper so we would pick him up and he would cry. Nothing was making him happy. Then yesterday after his morning nap he woke up and was boiling hot and lobster red. So I took his temp. and he was running a fever. I couldn't get him in to the doctor until today though. So after waiting forever the doctor came in and said his throat was red and had ulcers on it and it was probably a virus and there was nothing he could do. Just give him Tylenol to keep him comfortable and juice to keep him hydrated. When we got home I tried to give Milo the juice but he didn't want it so I sat the bottle on the floor behind me to cuddle him. Bailey, who came in to inspect the goings on, did want that bottle very much. I turned around just in time to see him licking the nipple. YUCK! I'm so glad I saw that or other wise I would have tried to give Milo that bottle again!
