Language Comprehension: 3-6 mons. w/ splinter skills to 12-15 mons.
Language Expression: 3-6 mons. w/ splinter skills to 9-12 mons.
Some of it I agree with and some of it I don't and some of it makes me want to cry. Like I think he understands more than a 3-6 month old he just doesn't always pay attention when you talk to him so it may seem like he didn't understand you. She said he's weakest area was expressive language but that is no big surprise. That is what first stared this whole thing. His strongest area was play and gesture, again no big surprise since he's a boy. Boy's are often doers and not talkers.
To be honest I am having a really hard time with this whole speech therapy thing. The feeding therapy I am really looking forward to. I am at a complete loss as to how to proceed there so I want to get on with that part. But I feel really resistant to speech therapy even though he could benefit from it. For some reason it feels like saying there is something wrong with him. Like he's not normal or bright. I know it's totally not that way it just feels like saying there is something wrong with him or that I failed him as a mother. I hate people accessing my child. He IS normal ans he IS bright but looking at the numbers makes me want to cry.

You don't know me from a hole in the wall but I remember you from BabyCenter back in the day. I also have a boy Sept '07 baby and I lurk on your blog every so often because your photography and layouts always fascinate me. I'm a big closet fan!!
Anyhoo, I decided to come out and post because this post made me sad for you. My little one says "Mama", "Dada", "Ba" (Bath), "Mo" (more), and "Miwl" (milk) and that's it. He has two older brothers that talk non stop so I'm rather surprised he hasn't picked up more words by now. My oldest is in speech and that started when he was 4 and he also had to have his tear ducts probed. No surgery though. I'm sorry you're going through all of this all at once. But I agree with you on the toddler speech assessment. Oops, didn't mean to take up the whole page with my comment. ;)
Oh and by the way, I think Milo is absolutely ADORABLE!! I love the pictures you take where he's NOT looking at the camera.

I hear your mother's heart on this. Just wanted to say I knew two children that both mom's wondered if they would ever talk. One is almost two and just began to talk. Once the other one started he never seemed to stop!! Praying you will have peace about whatever decision you make.
I know we talked about this before, but please don't worry about Milo. Being a speech therapist myself and having a child in speech therapy, I know how hard it is to have your own child assessed. Some of the fancy lingo makes it seem like there is something wrong when really there isn't. You know Milo better than anyone else in the world and believe me, you would definitely know if something major was wrong. He's just a typical boy and he will talk when he's good and ready =) We all know how stubborn boys are =D
